Databases on a dedicated two node cluster? Does this sound good to you or is this a lot of over kill?

Databases on a dedicated two node cluster? Does this sound good to you or is this a lot of over kill?

What we are planning to do is to run all the databases on a dedicated two node cluster.  Based on some documentation we dug up on TechNet Titled “Operations Manager 2007 Performance and scalability" pages 11 and 12, it looks like for our 150 servers we could get by with a single server implementation.  Though we are thinking about a 4 server configuration as follows: (1)2-node4-CPU total cluster running active-active to house all the databases.  Ops Manager Database would run on one node, ACS and reporting services would run on the other node; (1)  Root management server and (1) Management server with ACS collector.  This spreads the work a little and should give us some growth.  Does this sound good to you or is this a lot of over kill?

Also, we’d like to go with 64-bit hardware all around.  Does the SQL server standard edition runtime license packaged with the OPs Manager 2007 server have the option of running 64-bit on AMD Opteron (x64) processors?  For the above configuration, would I need a total of (4) Ops manager 2007 server licenses?

    Thanks

    Shams
