    Installing Agent & Pending Management

Last year I built a test lab with pre SP1 SCOM 2007 and was able to deploy agents on member servers in the domain.  I built management packs for a product we are developing and was able to dev NT alerting rules etc.

I have now installed SP1 of SCOM 2007 (also did a fresh installation) to continue my development of management packs.

    My problem is as follows:

    1. I can discover my member servers and the agent deploys ok with Health Service on the member server being installed by the Windows installer. No errors in the event log of the agent server. All appears to be fine.

    2.  In SCOM 2007 SP1 management console, the Managed Agent is in the Pending Management.  The only option is to Reject.  The details pain says it is still installing.

    3. I also tried a manual installation from media directly to the Agent server - no luck there either.

    4. There are no firewalls, NETSTAT -A shows ports listening ok on the management server.

    5. DNS entries exist for Management server.

    Any suggestions?

Is this in the same domain as your original setup? Did you by chance setup AD integration with your first setup?

Can the agent ping FQDN of RMS and RMS can ping FQDN of agent right?

    hope this helps!

Yes, test lab is a single domain forest.

FQDN pings both ways are fine between RMS and Agent.

AD integration?  I did a standard installation of a RMS.  Is there anything specific over and above a standard installation?

When the Agent is deployed via Discovery this is the event on the RMS event log.

"The MOM Server successfully completed the operation Agent Install on remote computer F2PSMS1.F2Company.com.
    Install account: F2COMPANY\administrator
    Error Code: 0
Error Description: The operation completed successfully."

So everything looks good on the RMS.

On the Agent side this is the success event log entry:

    Event Type: Information
    Event Source: MsiInstaller
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 11707
    Date:  27/09/2008
    Time:  9:04:00 AM
    User:  NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
    Computer: F2PSMS1
    Description:
Product: System Center Operations Manager 2007 Agent -- Installation operation completed successfully.

    Pretty frustrating.

I did a clean install of SP1 from the latest Select downloads.

    Appreciate any thoughts?

and there is no port blocking with a firewall between the rms and its clients? try using the mom 2005 reskit utility pre-requsite checker, to verify network connectivity, or better yet use the SCOM network checker MOMNetChkCmd.exe I'm sure you can google that and find it.

    Hope this helps!

I have this same problem. I ran MOMNetChk.exe and everything was successful. So, I have no idea what the problem is. I agree, this is frustrating.

     Apparently, my posting was blank.

I did find this and it is consistent with what I see in my test domain

    In short, register the SPN
