Custom Reports - Creating Model in VS

HI everyone,

i want to use Custom Reports in SCOM 2007. Therefore i have to create a reporting Model Projekt in Visual Studio. I did this directly on the RMS.

When i create a Data Source View i selected all tables and views. This is the way described in my MS workshop documentation i got.

After that i have to create the Model based upon my Data Source View and here comes the question. 

Is it normal that this took hours to create? My SQL Temp DB is getting larger and larger. I stoped the process because i was scared running out of disk space because of the TEMP DB.

DId i anything wrong ?

Can someone point me to that ?

Hi Sebastian,

Try not selecting the views, just the tables.  Some of the views can cause issues due to the way they work to create their view, which could also explain the reason your tempdb is growing so large.

I take it you are just testing with custom reports at the moment???  It is advisable before putting your custom reports into production to think about what tables/views you need in your model and only include those.

thanks for your help. I tried this also in my test lab and there it works well with all tables and views. But you are right, i should be careful of using all views and tables.

Is there an overview which table contains which datas ?

It's not easy to find out or?
